Missing Control Sensor

Hi,

I turned on my PC today and FanControl suddenly threw a bunch of “missing control/speed sensor” errors. It was working perfectly yesterday with no changes to my hardware or settings.

I’ve tried restarting the PC, restarting FanControl, and even updating to the latest version, but the issue is still there.

System info:
Windows 11 Pro
MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max motherboard

All the fans are still spinning normally, but FanControl can’t seem to detect or control them anymore. It looks like it’s failing to find any of the NCT6797D sensors.

Any idea what could have caused this overnight?

Hard to say, could be your AV wiping the driver?
The Nuvoton NCT6797D (/lpc/nct6797d/0) is detected but it is left empty.

Do you get the same thing out of https://github.com/LibreHardwareMonitor/LibreHardwareMonitor ?

Recently I have a same issue. Turned out that BF6 EA Javelin Anticheat blocked librahardware library.

I had the same problem as you, I solved it by going to Windows Defender and excluding the "C:\Program Files (x86)\FanControl" folder from the virus scan, apparently it keeps deleting a library because it thinks it is a virus.

Same thing here. Had to excluede FanControl folder also and went into Protection History and found the latest event. It showed that it deleted Winring0.G driver. I selected 'Allow' and restarted the App. All is back to normal. I thought I had done this already but I guess it didn't hold after update to Win 24H2.
